Diller Teen Fellows

What is the Diller Teen Fellows Program?

The Diller Teen Fellows Program is Miami’s premiere leadership development program for a select group of 20 Jewish teens in grades 10 and 11. Now operating in 32 communities in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, Argentina, England and Israel, the Diller Program works to develop future generations of active, effective leaders with strong Jewish identities. Our Diller Teen Fellows are driven by our four guiding pillars:

Leadership
Participants are challenged to be able to define their strengths, challenges, and personal leadership goals. We then provide the tools, feedback, and mentoring they need to experiment, collaborate and learn from their experiences. The result? A meaningful experience they can apply to real-world challenges.

Judaism & Jewish Identity
The Diller Teen Fellows program is based on the belief that true leadership stems from a strong sense of self and an appreciation for others. In a pluralistic program, participants have the opportunity to examine and reflect on their sense of Jewish identity in order to understand how their history, traditions and values motivate them to act in the world.

Israel
Participants gain a new perspective on Israel, informed by direct and authentic connections to the land, the country, its history, and its people. These connections are establish with the Diller Teen Fellows in Yerucham, Miami’s partnership city. Peak experiences of the program include a peer-exchange in Miami and Israel. Additionally, the three-week summer seminar in Israel brings together all participants to appreciate their diversity and experience the vibrancy and complex reality of modern Israel.

Tikkun Olam (Community Service and Social Action Projects)
The impact of tikkun olam, “repairing the world,” is central to the Diller Teen Fellows.  In an effort to put leadership into action, participants receive grant-funding to create and lead tikkun olam projects close to their heart.
