In a little over a month, we will gather with family and friends around our seder tablesPesach is a time of great festivity, meaningful rituals, and the telling of our people’s story of redemption.

This year, as we begin our preparations, we find ourselves at a place of uncertainty and discomfort.

In light of the tragedy of October 7th, the ongoing war in Israel, and the rise of antisemitism, many people are asking: “How could this be happening? What is the future going to be like?”

For centuries, the themes of the Passover seder has served as a beacon of hope and resilience in times of uncertainty.

The seder experience transcends mere ritualistic observance; it is a dynamic educational opportunity that invites participants to engage with timeless themes and teachings in the context in which we find ourselves.

On April 4, 11 & 18, the Department of Adult Learning will be offering a special 3-session course entitled “Haggadah in Times of Uncertainty” facilitated by Rabbi Fred Klein, Director of Mishkan Miami.

In this course, we will uncover the profound connection between ancient teachings and our current reality as well as explore how to tell the story of redemption during these difficult days.

Participants will be able to bring back new insights and materials to their seder tables and have opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions.

Compiled following the destruction of the Second Temple, the seder itself was forged in a time of major physical dislocation and emotional uncertainty.
