On Thursday, May 7, Scheck Hillel Community School hosted the 8th Annual South Florida Jewish Day School Robotics Festival Supported by the Eleanor M. and Herbert D. Katz Foundation, bringing together 205 students and educators from 11 Jewish day schools across South Florida for a full day dedicated to robotics, engineering, coding, creativity, and collaborative learning.

Over the past eight years, the festival has grown into a signature STEM event within the South Florida Jewish day school community, offering students an opportunity not only to showcase their technical skills, but also to engage in meaningful collaboration with peers from schools throughout the tri-county area.

One of the best outcomes of the festival is how it prepares students for an increasingly technological and innovation-driven world while fostering creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

This year’s participating schools included:

Brauser Maimonides Academy | Donna Klein Jewish Academy | Hebrew Academy (RASG) | Hochberg Lower School - Posnack East | Innovation School of Temple Beth Sholom | Landow Jewish Academy | Lubavitch Educational Center | Posnack Day School | Scheck Hillel Community School | South Florida Jewish Academy | Yeshiva Toras Chaim Toras Emes

Students participated in a wide range of robotics-based challenges and activities designed to encourage innovation, critical thinking, teamwork, and hands-on learning.

Throughout the day, students demonstrated coding skills, engineering design principlesstrategic thinking, and perseverance as they worked together to solve problems and complete challenges.

The festival atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement as students cheered one another on, exchanged ideas, and proudly showcased the projects and skills they had developed throughout the school year.

Educators and mentors from participating schools also had the opportunity to connect with colleagues, share best practices, and strengthen relationships across the South Florida Jewish educational community.

In addition to promoting STEM education, the festival emphasizes many of the core skills that are essential for future success, including collaboration, communication, adaptability, and creative problem-solving.

Events like the Robotics Festival provide students with opportunities to apply classroom learning in dynamic, real-world settings while building confidence and resilience.

The continued growth of the festival over the past eight years highlights the increasing importance of STEM and robotics programming within Jewish day schools.

Through CAJE’s work, schools across the community have expanded opportunities for students to engage with robotics, coding, engineering, and technology, recognizing the value of preparing students to become thoughtful innovators and leaders in the 21st century.

The success of this year’s festival would not have been possible without the dedication of school administrators, educators, robotics coaches, and volunteers whose hard work helped create a meaningful and memorable experience for every participant.

Special appreciation is extended to the Eleanor M. and Herbert D. Katz Foundation for its ongoing support of STEM innovation and educational programming within the Jewish day school community.

As the festival concludes its eighth successful year, CAJE looks forward to continuing to inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators, creators, and problem-solvers throughout South Florida’s Jewish day schools.
