“In every video I ever watched of Poland the images were of somber shades of gray, black and white. When we got off the Lot plane in Poland, we first went to a park to eat our small bagged lunch of fruit and radishes. I sat among the green trees and red tulips and could not believe there was color around me. I couldn’t rationalize the sounds of laughter with the images I had seen and the books I had read... “During the March of the Living, everyone seemed to be showing their emotions more than I did. At first, I couldn’t understand why I was not as emotional as everyone around me. However, in one of the camps, I was given letters from my family. As I read a letter from my mother, a march of the living alumni, the tears just started flowing.
