The Importance of Early Childhood Education

After years of inactivity, under the leadership of CAJE Board member Shana Russo, and CAJE Director of Early Childhood Joy Schandler, CAJE’S Early Childhood Education & Engagement Committee has finally been created and held its first meeting of the year this week.
The committee’s mission is to develop recommendations and strategies to significantly impact and support Jewish Early Childhood educators and institutions in the Greater Miami Jewish community.
In order to do this, a focus of the committee is to learn all aspects of early childhood education- from the different approaches and methods of teaching and learning, credentialing teachers, the role of early childhood education in the lives of young families, and how Judaism is woven into the fabric of the Jewish early childhood experience.
Members of the committee were excited and inspired to meet one another, learn about best practices, and discover what they could do to support ECE in our community. The committee has attracted impressive representatives from 10 of our early childhood programs-- the Alper JCC, Temple Beth Moshe, Toras Emes, Temple Beth Am, Temple Judea, Beth Torah Benny Rok Campus, Lehrman Day School, Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center, Temple Sinai of North Dade, and Temple Beth Sholom.
