Women filmmakers to be spotlighted during Miami Jewish Film Festival

Films by established and upcoming female filmmakers will be highlighted during a Spotlight on Women Filmmakers program the Miami Jewish Film Festival is launching as part of its 22nd edition from Jan. 10-24.

According to the MJFF, a record 25 female directors are premiering their films from 12 countries at the festival, and nearly 32 percent of all movies this year are directed by women. Beyond that, more than half of all the festival's films, which will be screened at various venues throughout Miami-Dade County, have women serving in a role as a writer, director or producer.

"Our Spotlight on Women Filmmakers brings these inspirational women to center stage, not only highlighting their exceptional work, but also providing an inspiration to the next generation of storytellers so they too will follow their dreams," said Igor Shteyrenberg, the festival's executive director.
