Online Learning

Our online courses are offered in real time which means that you will be in an online classroom with your teacher and fellow students as it is taking place. This allows for interaction and discussion, creating more opportunity to find meaning. The online courses are also recorded so that if you miss a session, you can watch the recording.

To find out about online courses or to purchase recordings of previous courses, please contact our director Rabbi Laila Haas | 305-576-4030 x 139.

Got Peace? Mindful meditation helps you to  be aware, be present, be calm and carry on.

Studies have shown that practicing meditation and mindfulness helps to lower levels of stress and anxiety and contribute to overall well-being; something we could all use right now!

While meditation and mindfulness have generally been associated with Buddhism (and certainly it’s deeply explored in that spiritual path), Judaism does have meditative and mindful elements.

In these sessions, you will be introduced to the theory and practice of mindfulness and meditation. If nothing else, you will have the opportunity to just take a break and breathe a little.

Best case scenario, you learn something, alleviate some stress, and enjoy a few moments of silence and insight.

THE MEANING OF SHAVUOT,
CUSTOMS & TRADITIONS

With Rabbi Cheryl Weiner
Tuesday, May 12

Why is Shavuot important in the Jewish holiday cycle? Together, we will uncover the dynamism of this forgotten holiday. We will follow the wondrous women duos of the Book of Ruth and the Book of Judges. We will immerse ourselves in the mystical journey that links Passover to Shavuot and the all-night study session that brings us to receiving the Ten Commandments at dawn. Get out your sandals, gird your loins, and get ready to discover the customs and traditions of this spiritual trek.

THE BOOK OF RUTH: TRACING THE
CONNECTING THREADS

With Rabbi Fred Klein
Tuesday, May 19

The pastoral story of a Moabite woman’s dedication to her mother-in-law and the kind acts of a kinsman of Judah is a beautiful story. Yet, it seems to pale in comparison to the foundational story of the Jewish people, the revelation at Mount Sinai. What is exactly the connection we are to make between these seemingly unrelated events. Join us in an exploration of the sources of this custom, as well as some of the theories as to why we read this story now.

PSALM 150: THE FINAL PSALM –
A GREAT PLACE TO START!

With Rabbi Dr. H. Rafael Goldstein
Tuesday, May 26

This Psalm is part of almost every service, and there are lots of great tunes to sing it to. But what does it actually say? What’s beneath the surface? Praising G!d with all kinds of instruments, but why the ones that are included? Which instruments are missing? How does music effect how we praise G!d? How does this psalm get your entire body involved in praising G!d? What does this psalm have to do with Shavuot? These questions and many more will be raised along our journey together!
