You’ve just been told you are an adult according to Judaism, but honestly, you know that you aren’t an adult, because you’re still in middle school. That’s why 8th grade is such an important time to ensure Jewish teens build a long-lasting connection to their heritage.
IsraelNow is a transformative and rewarding experience for Jewish 8th graders in Miami-Dade public schools or non-Jewish private schools. It’s an immersive and guided journey that teaches them as much about themselves as it does about their heritage.
CAJE recently hosted a workshop for teens from across Miami for an immersive day of experiential learning before they travel together this March on Miami’s IsraelNow program.
Our very first IsraelNow-Miami cohort got together for a reunion and evening of memorable activities... IsraelNow is an immersive travel experience for 8th graders that has a proven record of success in getting teens to fall in love with Israel and then become active participants in community programs upon their return.
CAJE has another great program for teens: IsraelNow! Created in Chicago, IsraelNow is an immersive travel experience for eighth graders who are not enrolled in a Jewish day school. It has a proven record of success in getting teens to fall in love with Israel and then become active participants in community programs upon their return.
“Keeping Students at the Center” is the driving philosophy of CAJE’s Day School Professional Development (PD) work (unlike the cartoon above). When it comes to creating PD, we know that one size does NOT fit all, which is why CAJE leverages resources to offer both community-wide and one-to-one support.
The Torah instructs us that following the celebration of the seven days of Sukkot,"the eighth day shall be a time of Atzeret [translated as “retreat”] for you when you shall do no mundane work." What is the significance of this eighth day [called Atzeret]? And why does it follow the seven days of Sukkot?
Any type of success can be connected to the ability and willingness to work as a team… especially among networks of professionals who are all working towards the same overarching goals. The power of collaboration and connection was palpable at the Jewish Early Childhood Professional Network’s (JECPN) kick-off meeting!
